Information maintained by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

325 ILCS 50/3

    (325 ILCS 50/3) (from Ch. 23, par. 2283)
Sec. 3. Registrar duties. Upon notification by the Illinois State Police that a person born in this State is missing, the Registrar shall flag the birth certificate record of that person in such a manner that whenever a copy of the birth certificate or information regarding the birth record is requested, the Registrar shall be alerted to the fact that the certificate is that of a missing person. The Registrar shall also notify the appropriate municipality or county custodians to likewise flag their records. Upon notification by the Illinois State Police that the missing person has been recovered, the Registrar shall remove the flag from the person's birth certificate record and shall notify any other previously notified municipality or county custodian to remove the flag from his record.
