Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

230 ILCS 5/4

    (230 ILCS 5/4) (from Ch. 8, par. 37-4)
    Sec. 4. The Board shall consist of 11 members to be appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate, not more than 6 of whom shall be of the same political party, and one of whom shall be designated by the Governor to be chairman. Each member shall have a reasonable knowledge of harness or thoroughbred racing practices and procedure and of the principles of harness or thoroughbred racing and breeding and, at the time of his appointment, shall be a resident of the State of Illinois and shall have resided therein for a period of at least 5 years next preceding his appointment and qualification and he shall be a qualified voter therein and not less than 25 years of age.
