Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process.
Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as
Public
Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the
Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes,
statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect.
If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has
not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already
been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes
made to the current law.

Sec. 20.2. Subpoenas; depositions; oaths. (a) The Department may subpoena and bring before it any
person to take the oral or written testimony or compel the production of any books, papers, records, or any other documents that the Secretary or his or her designee deems relevant or material to any investigation or hearing conducted by the Department with the same fees and mileage as prescribed in
civil cases in circuit
courts of this State and in the same manner as prescribed by this Act and its rules.
(b) The Secretary, any member of the Committee designated by the Secretary, a certified shorthand reporter, or any hearing officer appointed may administer oaths at any hearing which the Department conducts. Notwithstanding any statute or Department rule to the contrary, all requests for testimony, production of documents, or records shall be in accordance with this Act.
