Information maintained by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

225 ILCS 410/3B-11

    (225 ILCS 410/3B-11)
(Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2026)
Sec. 3B-11. Periodic review of barber, cosmetology, esthetics, hair braiding, and nail technology schools. All approved schools and courses of instruction are subject to review by the Department. The review shall include consideration of a comparison between the graduation or completion rate for the school and the graduation or completion rate for the schools within that classification of schools. Consideration shall be given to complaints and information forwarded to the Department by the Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureaus, the Illinois Attorney General's Office, a State's Attorney's Office, other State or official approval agencies, local school officials, and interested persons. The Department shall investigate all complaints filed with the Department about a school or its sales representatives.
A school shall retain the records, as defined by rule, of a student who withdraws from or drops out of the school, by written notice of cancellation or otherwise, for any period longer than 7 years from the student's first day of attendance. However, a school shall retain indefinitely the transcript of each student who completes the program and graduates from the school.
