Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

    Sec. 4. Definitions. In this Act:
    "Address of record" means the designated address recorded by the Department in the applicant's or licensee's application file or license file maintained by the Department's licensure maintenance unit.
    "Architect, Retired" means a person who has been duly licensed as an architect by the Department and who chooses to place on inactive status or not renew his or her license pursuant to Section 17.5.
    "Architectural associate" means an unlicensed person who has completed the education requirements, is actively participating in the diversified professional training, and maintains in good standing a training record as required for licensure by this Act and may use the title "architectural associate", but may not independently engage in the practice of architecture.
    "Board" means the Illinois Architecture Licensing Board appointed by the Secretary.
    "Department" means the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
    "Design build" or "design build entity" means the project delivery process defined in 68 Ill. Adm. Code 1150.85, and any amendments or changes thereto.
    "Email address of record" means the designated email address recorded by the Department in the applicant's application file or the licensee's license file as maintained by the Department's licensure maintenance unit.
    "Public health" as related to the practice of architecture means the state of the well-being of the body or mind of the building user.
    "Public safety" as related to the practice of architecture means the state of being reasonably free from risk of danger, damage, or injury.
    "Public welfare" as related to the practice of architecture means the well-being of the building user resulting from the state of a physical environment that accommodates human activity.
    "Secretary" means the Secretary of Financial and Professional Regulation.
