Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

    Sec. 20. Restrictions and limitations.
    (a) No person shall, without a valid license as a respiratory care practitioner (i) hold himself or herself out to the public as a respiratory care practitioner; (ii) use the title "respiratory care practitioner"; or (iii) perform or offer to perform the duties of a respiratory care practitioner, except as provided in Section 15 of this Act.
    (b) Nothing in the Act shall be construed to permit a person licensed as a respiratory care practitioner to engage in any manner in the practice of medicine in all its branches as defined by State law.
