Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process.
Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as
Public
Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the
Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes,
statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect.
If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has
not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already
been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes
made to the current law.

Sec. 20. Powers and duties of the Department. Subject to the
provisions of this Act, the Department shall exercise the following
functions, powers, and duties:
(a) Conduct or authorize examinations to ascertain |
| the fitness and qualifications of applicants for licensure and issue licenses to those who are found to be fit and qualified.

(b) Adopt rules required for the administration of
|
| this Act, including, but not limited to, rules for a method of examination of candidates and for determining approved graduate programs.
|
|
(b-5) Prescribe forms to be issued for the
|
| administration and enforcement of this Act consistent with and reflecting the requirements of this Act and rules adopted pursuant to this Act.
|
|
(c) Conduct hearings on proceedings to refuse to
|
| issue or renew licenses or to revoke, suspend, place on probation, or reprimand persons licensed under the provisions of this Act.

(d) Conduct investigations related to possible
|

The Board may make recommendations on matters relating to continuing
education, including the number of hours necessary for license renewal, waivers
for those unable to meet the requirements, and acceptable course content.
