Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process.
Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as
Public
Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the
Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes,
statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect.
If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has
not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already
been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes
made to the current law.
(215 ILCS 5/352c) (This Section may contain text from a Public Act with a delayed effective date ) Sec. 352c. Short-term, limited-duration insurance prohibited. (a) In this Section: "Excepted benefits" has the meaning given to that term in 42 U.S.C. 300gg-91 and implementing regulations. "Excepted benefits" includes individual, group, or blanket coverage. "Short-term, limited-duration insurance" means any type of accident and health insurance offered or provided within this State pursuant to a group or individual policy or individual certificate by a company, regardless of the situs state of the delivery of the policy, that has an expiration date specified in the contract that is fewer than 365 days after the original effective date. Regardless of the duration of coverage, "short-term, limited-duration insurance" does not include excepted benefits or any student health insurance coverage. (b) On and after January 1, 2025, no company shall issue, deliver, amend, or renew short-term, limited-duration insurance to any natural or legal person that is a resident or domiciled in this State.
