Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process.
Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as
Public
Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the
Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes,
statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect.
If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has
not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already
been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes
made to the current law.
(105 ILCS 5/14-1.08) (from Ch. 122, par. 14-1.08) Sec. 14-1.08. Special educational facilities and services. "Special educational facilities and services" includes private special schools, separate public special education day schools, special classes, special housing, including residential facilities, special instruction, special reader service, braillists and typists for children with visual disabilities, sign language interpreters, transportation, maintenance, instructional material, therapy, professional consultant services, medical services only for diagnostic and evaluation purposes provided by a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches to determine a child's need for special education and related services, psychological services, school social worker services, special administrative services, salaries of all required special personnel, and other special educational services, including special equipment for use in the classroom, required by the child because of his disability if such services or special equipment are approved by the State Superintendent of Education and the child is eligible therefor under this Article and the regulations of the State Board of Education.
