Information maintained by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

70 ILCS 1835/22

    (70 ILCS 1835/22) (from Ch. 19, par. 722)
Sec. 22. Members of the Board shall hold office until their respective successors have been appointed and qualified. Any member may resign from his office to take effect when his successor has been appointed and qualified. The Governor may remove any member of the Board in case of incompetency, neglect of duty or malfeasance in office. He shall give such member a copy of the charges against him and an opportunity to be publicly heard in person or by counsel in his own defense upon not less than 10 days' notice. In case of failure to qualify within the time required, or of abandonment of his office, or in case of death, conviction of a felony or removal from office, the office of such member shall become vacant. Each vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term by appointment in like manner as in case of expiration of the term of a member of the Board.
