Information maintained by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

25 ILCS 5/3.1

    (25 ILCS 5/3.1) (from Ch. 63, par. 3.1)

Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, whenever any law or resolution requires a report to the General Assembly, that reporting requirement shall be satisfied by filing: with the Clerk of the House of Representatives and the Secretary of the Senate in electronic form only, in the manner that the Clerk and the Secretary shall direct; and with the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability, in the manner that the Commission shall direct. In addition, the reporting entity must make a copy of the report available for a reasonable time on its Internet site or on the Internet site of the public entity that hosts the reporting entity's World Wide Web page, if any. Additional copies shall be filed with the State Government Report Distribution Center for the General Assembly as required under paragraph (t) of Section 7 of the State Library Act.
