Sec. 20. Music Therapy Advisory Board. There is created within the Department a Music Therapy Advisory Board, which shall consist of 5 members. The Secretary shall appoint all members of the Advisory Board. The Advisory Board shall consist of persons familiar with the practice of music therapy to provide the Secretary with expertise and assistance in carrying out the Secretary's duties pursuant to this Act. The Secretary shall appoint members of the Advisory Board to serve for terms of 4 years, and members may serve consecutive terms at the will of the Secretary. Any vacancy shall be filled in the same manner as a regular appointment. The Secretary shall appoint 3 members who practice as professional music therapists in this State, one member who is a licensed health care provider who is not a music therapist, and one member who is a consumer. Members shall serve without compensation. The Secretary may terminate the appointment of any member for cause as determined by the Secretary. The Secretary may consider the recommendation of the Advisory Board on all matters and questions relating to this Act. Members of the Advisory Board shall be reimbursed for all legitimate, necessary, and authorized expenses. Members of the Advisory Board shall have no liability in any action based upon a disciplinary proceeding or other activity performed in good faith as a member of the Advisory Board.
