SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Burzynski, father of State Senator and our colleague Brad Burzynski, who passed away on April 23, 2008; and

WHEREAS, John Burzynski was born August 13, 1922, in Benton, the son of Lawrence and Martha (Zachari) Burzynski; and

WHEREAS, He married Billie (Stewart) on October 9, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Mr. Burzynski was a World War II veteran; he was a retired coal miner and farmer; he was a member of Rend Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and served as church treasurer for more than 50 years; and he was also an avid gardener and was widely known for his generosity at harvest time; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Raymond and Stanley; and a sister, Mary Isaacs; and

WHEREAS, John Burzynski is survived by his wife, Billie Burzynski; his son, Ken W. Burzynski and wife, Carmen; his daughter, Judy Ridgway and husband, Paul; his son, J. Bradley Burzynski and wife, Judy; his nine grandchildren, Dan, Lori, Sam and Amanda Burzynski, Ben Burzynski and wife, Abbie, Beth (Burzynski) Veit and husband, Kristian, Andrew Ridgway, Zachary Ridgway, and wife, Meredith, and Anthony Ridgway; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Hannah Burzynski;, he also is survived by his brothers, Lawrence, Walter, Marion, and Clyde "Butch" Burzynski, as well as his sisters, Helen Thompson, Stella Stewart, Ruth Grammer, and Jane Cummings; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John Burzynski; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Burzynski as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
