SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of James L. Ellis of North Chicago, who
4 passed away on July 7, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James L. Ellis was born on March 3, 1947 in
6 Shawneetown; his parents were Hobart Ellis, Sr. and Lucille
7 (Rice) Ellis; and
 
8     WHEREAS, James L. Ellis served with pride and distinction
9 as a member of the United States Marine Corps, receiving the
10 National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam
11 Campaign Medal, and two Purple Heart Medals; and
 
12     WHEREAS, James L. Ellis had a devoted career as the Fifth
13 Ward Alderman for the City of North Chicago, serving on several
14 committees; he also served as business owner of the Valero Gas
15 Station in North Chicago; and
 
16     WHEREAS, James L. Ellis found peace and enjoyment in
17 gardening, hunting, and fishing, yet always made his family the
18 highest priority; and
 
19     WHEREAS, James L. Ellis was preceded in death by his
20 parents, Hobart Ellis, Sr. and Lucille Ellis, and his brothers,

1 Hobart Ellis, Jr., Eugene Ellis, and Ben Ellis; and
 
2     WHEREAS, James L. Ellis is survived by his wife of 40
3 years, Carol; his sons, Andrew (Lisa) and Robert (Shena); his
4 sister, Violet L. Staples; his brother, David (Loretta); his
5 sister-in-law, Evelyn Ellis; his grandchildren, Auriel,
6 Khadijah, Amani, Damien, Ashley, Robert, Jr., Jovonte, and
7 Andrew; and his many other relatives and dear friends;
8 therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of James L. Ellis; and be
12 it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of James L. Ellis as an expression of
15 our sympathy.
