SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Robert L. Turner of Belvidere, who passed
4 away on April 22, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Robert L. Turner was born on December 25, 1932 in
6 Belvidere; he was the son of Henry E. "Hank" and Lucille M.
7 "Suzie" (Stehley) Turner; he married Roberta Flemming on
8 October 18, 1964 in Belvidere; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Robert L. Turner graduated from Belvidere High
10 School and attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Robert L. Turner served our country with pride and
12 distinction as a member of the United States Army from November
13 3, 1954 through June 15, 1955; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Robert L. Turner was the former owner of Central
15 Tire and Battery, prior to becoming the Belvidere Township
16 Supervisor in 1981; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Robert L. Turner was a member of many community
18 organizations, such as the Belvidere Board of Realtors, the
19 Belvidere Chamber of Commerce, Township Officials of Illinois,
20 the Belvidere I.O.U. Club, the Belvidere Masonic Lodge #60

1 A.F.A.M., the Freeport Valley Consistory, the Tebala Shrine
2 Temple, the Royal Order of Jesters, the Kishwaukee Chapter of
3 S.A.R., the Growth Dimensions Board, and the Saturday Morning
4 Coffee Club, among many others; he also served as the Boone
5 County Republican Committee Chairman and as a State County
6 Chairman; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Robert L. Turner was a great fan of the Wisconsin
8 Badgers; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Robert L. Turner was preceded in death by his
10 parents; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Robert L. Turner is survived by his wife, Roberta;
12 his children, Jill (Terry) Phillips and Robert E. (Lisa)
13 Turner; and his grandsons, Jacob and Benjamin; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Robert L. Turner cared deeply for his community;
15 he will be missed dearly by his countless friends, neighbors,
16 and his family; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19 his family and friends, the passing of Robert L. Turner; and be
20 it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Robert L. Turner as an expression of
3 our sympathy.
