SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marilyn Jeanne Bigham of DuQuoin, who passed away on March 5, 2008; and

WHEREAS, She was born July 5, 1930, in Pinckneyville, the daughter of Bert L. and Mattie Belle (Akin) Hegler; on October 6, 1962, she married Winton L. Bigham in Pinckneyville; and

WHEREAS, She was a homemaker, a member of Sunfield United Methodist Church, a member and past worthy matron of Eastern Star, a 4-H leader for the Oak Grove Cornhuskers, and a former member of the Community Consolidated District 212 School board; she was actively involved in politics and enjoyed being an election judge for many years; she also enjoyed camping and spending time with her family outdoors; and

WHEREAS, She found great joy in watching her grandkids play baseball and basketball; she was also a St. Louis Cardinal fan and an avid follower of Pinckneyville Panther sports; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Winton; and her parents, Bert and Mattie Hegler; and

WHEREAS, She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Elaine Bigham, Dallas and Rhonda Bigham, and Clinton and Michelle Bigham; her three daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda and Colin Clarke, Susan Bigham, and Amy Bigham; her brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Jean Hegler Jr.; her sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Tony Beninati; and her eight grandchildren, Cole and Callie Bigham, Trenton and Dalton Bigham, Kayla Fann and Chase Bigham, and Chad Bigham and Maya Miller; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Marilyn Jeanne Bigham; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marilyn Bigham as a symbol of our sympathy.
