SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James "Shib" Glenn Miller of Sesser, who passed away in the line of duty on July 27, 2007; and

WHEREAS, James "Shib" Glenn Miller was born on August 28, 1963, in Franklin County Hospital in Benton to Mary Eubanks-Miller Morefield and James Miller; he grew up in Sesser; he had a distinguished career with the Sesser Fire Department, where he worked as a volunteer firefighter for almost 22 years; he was a proud firefighter and gave of himself to keep the community safe; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sesser; James also enjoyed spending time watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and was considered by many as one of their most loyal and enduring fans; and

WHEREAS, James Miller was preceded in death by his late grandparents, Cecil and Tincey Eubanks, Glenn Miller, and Floyd Coffman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Marion Byers, and his cousin Russell Miller; and

WHEREAS, James Miller is survived by his wife, Sherry Miller, and daughters, Misty and Jenny Miller; his father, James (Carolyn) Miller, and his mother, Mary Eubanks-Miller Morefield; his grandparents, Wanda Coffman and Art and Mary Todd; he is also survived by his brothers, Kevin (Becky) Miller and Steve Miller, and sisters, Missy (Rob) Knight, Megan (Zach) Rounds, and Mallory Miller; his nieces and nephews, Tim and Bethany Miller, Brittany and Mariah Miller, Kylan, Brianna, and Cyler Knight, and Maya Rounds; he is also survived by his dog, Lady; he is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of this brave firefighter, James "Shib" Glenn Miller; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James "Shib" Glenn Miller as a symbol of our sympathy and deep respect.
