| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Thelma Randolph Lewis of West Frankfort, | 4 |
| who passed away on June 3, 2007; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Thelma Randolph Lewis was born June 10, 1907, in | 6 |
| Marion, the daughter of the late George W. Randolph and Mattie | 7 |
| (Bivins) Randolph;
she married R.V. Lewis in May 1928; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, After living in East St. Louis, Evansville, | 9 |
| Indiana, and Orange County, California, Thelma and her husband | 10 |
| settled in West Frankfort in 1942, and together they founded | 11 |
| Southern Illinois Surgical Appliance Company; in 1950 they | 12 |
| acquired the Beltone Hearing Aid Franchise and worked together | 13 |
| until her husband passed away in 1987; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; | 15 |
| and she was a member of First Christian Church in West | 16 |
| Frankfort; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her | 18 |
| husband, Randolph V. Lewis; and her siblings, Lenora Randolph, | 19 |
| Betty Gorgan, Henry Randolph and Freeda Fowler; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Thelma Randolph Lewis is survived by her |

| daughters, Barbara Arensberg and husband, Walter, Beverly | 2 |
| Needham, Ruth Hudson and husband, Larson, and Marilyn Simpson | 3 |
| and husband, Mike; her son, Randy Lewis; her 21 grandchildren; | 4 |
| her 37 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild; | 5 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 7 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 8 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Thelma Randolph Lewis; | 9 |
| and be it further
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 |
| presented to the family of Thelma Randolph Lewis as a symbol of | 12 |
| our sympathy.
