SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Deacon Lonnie Whiteside of North Chicago;
4 and
 
5     WHEREAS, Deacon Lonnie Whiteside was born on June 28, 1918
6 in Frenchman Bayou, Arkansas; his parents were the late John
7 and Cordelia Whiteside; he united in holy matrimony to Mary L.
8 Stokes on July 29, 1994; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Deacon Lonnie Whiteside retired from Airtite
10 Insulation, Roofing, Heating and Sealing Company in 1989 after
11 37 years of service; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Deacon Lonnie Whiteside confessed a hope in Christ
13 at the age of 12 and was baptized by the late Reverend Ben
14 Robinson in Booneville, Mississippi; during the 1930s and
15 1940s, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Arkansas,
16 as well as the Zion Temple M.B. Church in Chicago; he was
17 ordained a Deacon in 1953; in 1989, he relocated to North
18 Chicago and joined the First Corinthian Missionary Baptist
19 Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend Peter Goudeaux
20 Jr.; he was elected to the position of Assistant Chairman of
21 the Deacon Board in 1996; and

1     WHEREAS, Deacon Lonnie Whiteside's love for the Lord was
2 evident by his active participation in all church activities,
3 lending a helping hand and advice wherever needed; his favorite
4 hobbies were fishing, gardening, and yard work; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Deacon Lonnie Whiteside was preceded in death by
6 his parents; his daughter, Maurice Dowdell; his sisters and
7 brothers; his uncles and aunts; and two sons-in-law; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Deacon Lonnie Whiteside leaves to cherish his
9 precious memories his faithful wife of 13 years, Deaconess Mary
10 L. Whiteside; his nine children, Lillie Pooler, Lonnie (Otis)
11 Robinson, Lola (Earnest) Cardwell, Diana (Eric) Craig, Debra
12 Rocket, Edward Whiteside, John (Ethel) Whiteside, Michael
13 (Robin) Whiteside, and Andre (Brenda) Whiteside; his uncle,
14 Obbie (Gladys) Ruff; his nephew, Ervin (Lorna) Howell; 37
15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; his nieces; his
16 cousins; and his dear friends; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
19 his family and friends, the passing of Deacon Lonnie Whiteside;
20 and be it further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 presented to the family of Deacon Lonnie Whiteside as an
