HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representative are pleased to recognize Tracy Fisher, recipient of the 2007 Kohl McCormick Early Childhood Teaching Award; and

WHEREAS, Tracy Fisher has benefited the community of Edgewater, by excelling in her role as a State Pre-Kindergarten teacher at the Helen C. Peirce School of International Studies; and

WHEREAS, Tracy Fisher was bestowed the honor of being awarded among the Kohl McCormick Early Childhood Teaching Awards for 2007; and

WHEREAS, The Kohl McCormick awards are granted to educators that exemplify the best practices of quality early childhood teaching: dedication, innovation, leadership, respect for children and their families, and commitment to professional growth; and

WHEREAS, Visionaries like Tracy Fisher have excelled in educating the youth of the State of Illinois in creative and innovative ways to teach our youth by incorporating drama, visual arts, and music to foster creative learning; and

WHEREAS, The Kohl McCormick Foundation reviewed more than 200 nominees and selected only five as award recipients; thus, Tracy Fisher represents the best of the field in early childhood education; and

WHEREAS, Early childhood education has been shown to drastically reduce future crime rates, and investments in quality child care and early childhood education do more than pay significant returns to children, our future citizens; they also benefit taxpayers and enhance economic vitality; and

WHEREAS, High-quality early childhood education helps prepare young children to succeed in school and become better citizens; they earn more, pay more taxes, and commit fewer crimes; and

WHEREAS, Access to available and affordable choices of early childhood learning programs helps working parents fulfill their responsibilities; and

WHEREAS, Due to the positive effects on society of quality early childhood education, leaders like Tracy Fisher are working to ensure a better future for the children she teaches, their families, and society as a whole; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Tracy Fisher on receiving the 2007 Kohl McCormick Early Childhood Teaching Award, thank her for her dedication and service to the citizens of Illinois, and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Tracy Fisher as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
