| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Mother | 4 |
| Della Louis of North Lawndale, who passed away on June 17, | 5 |
| 2008; and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mother Della Louis was born on May 28, 1915; she | 7 |
| lived in the same home in the North Lawndale community for 63 | 8 |
| years; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mother Della Louis was employed at Leadership | 10 |
| Cleaners and Sunshine Cleaners; she subsequently retired from | 11 |
| the Albany Nursing Home in Chicago; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mother Della Louis served as an anchor and an | 13 |
| activist in the North Lawndale community; she was a dedicated | 14 |
| member of the Greater Progressive Baptist Church who served | 15 |
| faithfully and with great joy under three pastors, the late | 16 |
| Pastor Van B. Watts, the late Pastor H. Y. Linzy, and the | 17 |
| current Pastor, Reverend Dr. Eric B. Brown, Sr.; she sang in | 18 |
| the Sr. Choir, served as President of the Mother's Board, and | 19 |
| was a member of the Pastor's Aid Society; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Mother Della Louis was a doer of the Word of God | 21 |
| whose relationship and love was both vertical and horizontal; |

| WHEREAS, Mother Della Louis loved and supported her State | 3 |
| Representative, the Honorable Arthur L. Turner; and
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Her desire to help people with any of their | 5 |
| concerns knew no bounds to Mother Della Louis, no matter what | 6 |
| the cost to herself; therefore, be it
| 7 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | 8 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | 9 |
| mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mother | 10 |
| Della Louis; and be it further
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 |
| presented to the family of Mother Della Louis as an expression | 13 |
| of our sympathy.
