SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

105 ILCS 5/27-23.8 new

Amends the School Code. Provides that, in accordance with guidelines that the State Board of Education must develop, in every public school there must be instruction for both teachers and students on Internet safety (including without limitation how and to whom to report suspicious online encounters), illegal downloading, plagiarism, and other topics related to the Internet.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 27-23.8 as follows:

Sec. 27-23.8. Internet safety education. In accordance with guidelines that the State Board of Education must develop, in every public school there must be instruction for both teachers and students on Internet safety (including without limitation how and to whom to report suspicious online encounters), illegal downloading, plagiarism, and other topics related to the Internet.
