SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth E. "Kenny" Batson, formerly of Little Swan Lake, who passed away on January 21, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Kenny Batson was born in rural Laura to Charles and Dora E. (McCullough) Batson on July 28, 1939; he graduated from Abingdon High School in 1957; he served in the United States Navy for five years with the Pacific fleet during the Vietnam War; he married Louise P. Sabetti at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon on June 27, 1964; and

WHEREAS, Kenny Batson was the owner/operator of Batson's Ace Hardware in Bushnell for 50 years; he retired in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Kenny Batson was a member of the Abingdon American Legion and the Bushnell VFW; and

WHEREAS, Kenny Batson was of the Catholic faith; he enjoyed spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Kenny Batson was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Harry, Art, Ronnie, and Robert; and

WHEREAS, Kenny Batson is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Louise; his son, David (Stacy) Batson; his grandchildren, Hope, Alex, and Abby; his great-grandson, Henry; his brother, Chuck (Linda) Batson; his sisters, Betty Gordon, Shirley Blodgett, Emma Lou Lambert, and Mary Jo Russo; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kenneth E. "Kenny" Batson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kenny Batson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
