HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Collyn Forbis, an eighth grader at Western Junior High School in Kinderhook, on placing first in the 400m at the 2024 Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Class 1A 8th Grade Boys State Track and Field Meet; and

WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis had previously only performed in the 400m event twice before qualifying for State; and

WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis also placed third in the 800m, sixth in 1600m, and tenth in the 100m competitions, respectively; and

WHEREAS, Last year, Collyn Forbis placed first in the 1600m at the 2023 IESA Class 2A 7th Grade Boys State Track and Field Meet, breaking both his personal record and setting a new state record with a time of four minutes and 57 seconds; he did not lose a single 1600m race the entire season, and he improved his time by a full minute compared to his results from the previous year; and

WHEREAS, That same year, Collyn Forbis additionally broke his personal record in the 800m while placing second at the 2023 IESA Class 2A 7th Grade Boys State Track and Field Meet, achieving a 20-second improvement from his best time the previous year; overall, he won six of the eight 800m races on his way to placing first in the 800m at the 2023 IESA Class 2A 7th Grade Boys Sectional Track and Field Meet; and

WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis has broken every Western Junior High School record in the 100m, the 400m, the 800m, the 1600m, and the shot put; and

WHEREAS, Collyn Forbis is the son of Josh and Krista Forbis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Collyn Forbis on his accomplishments at the 2024 Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Class 1A 8th Grade Boys State Track and Field Meet, and we wish him continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Collyn Forbis as an expression of our esteem and respect.
