Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Provides that appointments to the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, other than the ex officio members, shall be made by the Executive Director of the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board from a list of nominees selected by a majority of votes of the President of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association, the President of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the President of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council and the President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge 7 (rather than the Governor).

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Police Training Act is amended by | 5 | | changing Section 3 as follows:
| 6 | | (50 ILCS 705/3) (from Ch. 85, par. 503)
| 7 | | Sec. 3. Board - composition - appointments - tenure - | 8 | | vacancies. The Board
shall be composed of 18 members selected | 9 | | as follows: The Attorney
General of
the State of Illinois, the | 10 | | Director of State Police, the Director of
Corrections, the | 11 | | Superintendent of the
Chicago Police Department, the Sheriff | 12 | | of Cook County, the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, | 13 | | and the following
to be appointed by the Executive Director of | 14 | | the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board from a | 15 | | list of nominees selected by a majority of votes of the | 16 | | President of the Illinois Sheriffs' Association, the President | 17 | | of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the President | 18 | | of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council and | 19 | | the President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge | 20 | | 7 the Governor : 2 mayors or village presidents of Illinois

County, 2 managers of Illinois municipalities, 2 | 23 | | chiefs of municipal police

| 1 | | Superintendent of the Police Department on
the Board, 2 | 2 | | citizens of Illinois who shall be members of
an organized | 3 | | enforcement officers' association, one active member of a | 4 | | statewide association representing sheriffs, and one active | 5 | | member of a statewide association representing municipal | 6 | | police chiefs. The appointments of the respective associations | 7 | | Governor
shall be made on the first Monday of August in 1965 | 8 | | with 3 of the appointments
to be for a period of one year, 3 | 9 | | for 2 years, and 3 for 3 years. Their
successors shall be | 10 | | appointed in like manner for terms to expire the first
Monday | 11 | | of August each 3 years thereafter. All members shall serve | 12 | | until their
respective successors are appointed and qualify. | 13 | | Vacancies shall be filled by
a majority vote of the respective | 14 | | associations the Governor for the unexpired terms.
