SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
215 ILCS 5/356z.25a new

    Amends the Illinois Insurance Code to require the Director of Insurance to solicit information and data from health insurance carriers regarding insurance coverage for pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders. Provides the types of data that shall be collected by the Director. Provides that the Director shall analyze the information and submit a report on or before November 15, 2021 to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President of the Senate, the Governor, the chairpersons of the House and Senate committees having jurisdiction over health and human services issues, and the legislative representatives serving on the advisory council on pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder associated with streptococcal infections and pediatric acute neuropsychiatric syndrome. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by
5adding Section 356z.25a as follows:
 
6    (215 ILCS 5/356z.25a new)
7    Sec. 356z.25a. Coverage for pediatric autoimmune
8neuropsychiatric disorders; report required. The Director
9shall solicit information and data from health insurance
10carriers regarding insurance coverage for pediatric autoimmune
11neuropsychiatric disorders. The data collected shall include
12the number of pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder
13cases diagnosed, treatment recommended by health care
14providers, denials of treatment approved by insurance
15carriers, number of appeals by insureds, and number of appeals
16granted by insurance carriers. The Director shall analyze the
17information and submit a report on or before November 15, 2021
18to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President
19of the Senate, the Governor, the chairpersons of the House and
20Senate committees having jurisdiction over health and human
21services issues, and the legislative representatives serving
22on the advisory council on pediatric autoimmune
23neuropsychiatric disorder associated with streptococcal

2established under Section 2310-676 of the Department of Public
3Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code
4of Illinois.
 
5    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
6becoming law.
