| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Fred C. Volkmar of Peoria, who passed | 4 | | away on April 13, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar was born to Frederick C. and Clara | 6 | | Marie (Hiles) Volkmar in Peoria on February 9, 1943; he | 7 | | graduated from Woodruff High School in 1961; he married Linda | 8 | | K. Johnson in Peoria on April 25, 1964; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar began working as an AV technician at | 10 | | Peoria Sound immediately after graduating high school; | 11 | | alongside Linda, he purchased the business in 1980, changing | 12 | | its name to Prospect TV & Sound Service; he remained active in | 13 | | operating their business until his passing, although he | 14 | | semi-retired in 2006; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar was a member of First English | 16 | | Lutheran Church since 1968, where he served as a trustee and an | 17 | | usher in his early years; his favorite church activity was | 18 | | tinkering with anything that needed fixing, from the sound | 19 | | system to a crack in the stained glass; and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar loved his family above all; he was | 21 | | beyond proud of his children, grandchildren, and |

| 1 | | great-grandchild; he never knew a stranger and touched the | 2 | | lives of so many over the years; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar was preceded in death by his | 4 | | parents; his sister, Sylvia Volkmar; and his beloved cat, | 5 | | Muffin; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Fred Volkmar is survived by his wife of 57 years, | 7 | | Linda; his daughters, Karen (Riley) Hilyard, Fredda (Roger) | 8 | | Jones, and Janel (Chris) Hart; his grandchildren, Ryan Akers, | 9 | | Brittany (Aaron Broomfield) Volkmar, Christina (Caleb) Wolfe, | 10 | | Sydney Hart, Kenzie Hart, Colton Jones, and Wyatt Jones; his | 11 | | great-grandson, Cylus Stewart; and several step-grandchildren | 12 | | and unofficial grandchildren; therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Fred C. Volkmar and extend our sincere condolences to his | 16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 17 | | further
