HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Bobra
4Jean Walker, who passed away on July 24, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bobra Walker was born in Chulahoma, Mississippi to
6Bobbie Ellis Sr. and Mattie Ella Dean Falkner on January 5,
71939; during her childhood, she committed to her faith at an
8early age and was a member of Mt. Gilead C.M.E. Church in
9Chulahoma, where she attended Sunday school and was a member of
10the church choir; she also was a member of the 4-H Club; she
11received her education through the Marshall County School
12District and completed her high school education at Mississippi
13Industrial College in Holly Springs, Mississippi; she married
14Landon Walker Jr. on February 1, 1959; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bobra Walker and her family settled in Harvey in
161964 and became members of Christ Temple Baptist Church in
17Markham; she was a homemaker for the majority of her life but
18eventually pursued employment at Woolworth, Service
19Merchandise, and Falkner Bumper; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bobra Walker was one of her family's historians;
21she remembered birthdays, anniversaries, family history, and
22other milestones; she possessed amazing management and

1organizational skills; she was a gifted cook and baker and a
2great hostess; her home was always immaculate, and her kitchen
3was always open to family and friends, especially during
4holidays with Christmas being her favorite; she had a "green
5thumb" that she shared with many, passing on her knowledge for
6growing her beautiful annual flowers, her house plants, or
7vegetable gardens; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bobra Walker was a sports enthusiast, especially
9when it came to baseball and football; she was proud of her
10family and their accomplishments, especially in education; she
11cherished her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with her
12children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; she exuded
13grace, sophistication, class, and style; she loved life and was
14a generous, devoted, and caring individual; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bobra Walker was preceded in death by her parents;
16her sister, Gladys Young; and her brothers, Edgar, Bobbie Jr.,
17Moses, and Larry Falkner Sr.; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bobra Walker is survived by her husband of 61
19years, Landon; her children, Brenda Mason (David), Ricky
20Walker, Perry Walker (Iris), Kerry L. Walker (Andria), and
21Kanefus Walker; her siblings, Mattie Walker, Urma Walker
22(McEwen), Ella Washington, Wheelock Patrick, Kent Falkner
23(Jackie), and Sarah Summerville; her brother-in-law and

1sisters-in-law, Azelle Alexander, Mary Falkner, Deborah
2(Orita) Walker, and Eldridge Walker; her grandchildren,
3DeLandon Mason (Carmen), Ricky D. Walker, Ameythyst Smith
4(Kyle), DeResha Browne, Samuel Jackson, Eric Hooks
5(Christina), DeVonn Walker, Amber Mason, Kerry T. Walker,
6Chanelle Randell (Brandon), Marcellus Walker, and Perry Sibby;
7her great-grandchildren, Kristion, Unique, Camryn, Kai,
8Anthony, Wynton, Hannah, Ryan, Kourtney, Nicholas, Ca'Lia,
9Braeden, Darrell, Lily, Ker'ron, Evan, Mykel, Myles, Makenzie,
10Kyrie, and Kymir; her special cousins, Beatrice Miller-Peete
11and Bobbie Moton; her special friends, Francis and Sherry
12Harvey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other
13relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we mourn the passing of Bobra Jean Walker and extend our
17sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
18and loved her; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Bobra Walker as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
