SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Judith A. "Judy" Dallas of Granite City,
4who passed away on July 31, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Judith Dallas was born in Granite City to Henry
6and Ann (Stajduhar) Pieper on August 19, 1950; she married
7William A. "Bill" Dallas Jr. at the former St. Joseph Catholic
8Church in Granite City on September 15, 1973; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Judith Dallas was a 44-year veteran of law
10enforcement and the criminal justice community, with 29 years
11at Madison County; her career started with the Granite City
12Police Department; she served as a detective secretary and
13chief's secretary before taking a job as a senior
14administrative assistant with the county's probation
15department in 1988; a year after she started working for the
16county she graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology from
17Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; she worked her way
18up through the ranks, serving as supervisor, deputy chief, and
19chief probation officer; on March 14, 2008, she was named the
20first female director of the probation department; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Judith Dallas was a member of the Illinois
22Probation and Court Services Association, which awarded her the

1prestigious Illinois Probation and Court Services
2Association's Pauline Gansauer Award in 2002; she was a former
3member of the American Probation and Parole Association; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Judith Dallas was a member of St. Mary Catholic
5Church in Madison; she was an avid reader, had a special love
6for animals, and enjoyed flowers and her garden; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Judith Dallas was preceded in death by her parents
8and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William Sr. and Irene
9Dallas; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Judith Dallas is survived by her husband of 44
11years, William; her brothers, Lawrence (Mary) Pieper and John
12(Sheree) Pieper; her sister, Victoria (Kerry) Bundy; her
13brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Jessica Dallas;
14her sister-in-law, Roberta "Bobbie" Dallas; her godson and
15nephew, Jonathan Bundy; her nieces and nephews, Olivia Dallas,
16Margaret Dallas, Megan Dallas, Thomas "J.J." Dallas, and
17Melissa McCullouch; her aunts, Juanita James and Mary Pieper;
18her special friends, Glenda and Steve Bowker; and many cousins,
19extended family, colleagues, and cherished friends; therefore,
20be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

2her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Judith Dallas as an expression of
