SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Russel Clayton Lehner, who passed away on
4June 19, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Russel Lehner was a devoted teacher for 35 years;
6he spent nine years teaching at Ackerman Junior High in Oregon,
7where he also coached girls softball and basketball, one year
8at Wilmington High School, and the remainder at Joliet Township
9High School West and Central Campuses; he taught woodworking,
10welding, electricity, board drafting, computer aided drafting,
11and Principles of Technology, a class that he created and
12taught in collaboration with a physics teacher; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Russel Lehner coached his sons' baseball teams at
14St. Joe's for many years; he loved bowling in the teachers'
15league, fishing from a chair on the shores of the Lake Will
16Sportsman's Club, watching his beloved Chicago Cubs win a World
17Series and scratching off lottery tickets while watching
18Westerns in the comfort of his kitchen chair; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Russel Lehner was preceded in death by his father,
20Clay; his mother, Helen; and his aunt, Marge; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Russel Lehner is survived by his wife, Patricia;

1his children, Erin (Scott) Zimmer, Joseph (Samantha) Lehner,
2Peter Lehner, and Kathryn (David) Gibson; his grandchildren,
3Skyler, Kasia, and Brooklyn Lehner, and Luke and Brynn Zimmer;
4his brother, Dale Lehner (Patricia); his sister, Dianne
5(Gerald) Morrison; his uncle and aunt, Ed and Jackie Lehner;
6and many nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers; therefore,
7be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Russel Clayton Lehner, and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Russel Lehner as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
