| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Harold Leo "Harry" King, formerly of | 4 | | McHenry, who passed away on May 13, 2018; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harry King was born in McHenry to Leo and Mae King | 6 | | on June 10, 1940; raised on a dairy farm, he and his siblings | 7 | | learned about the value of hard work, family, faith and | 8 | | community at an early age by working with his family to milk | 9 | | Holstein dairy cows and tend the fields; he attended McHenry | 10 | | High School, where he was an active member of the Future | 11 | | Farmers of America; he married Lynn C. Sturdy on April 4, 1964; | 12 | | and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Harry King and his family relocated to | 14 | | Brownsville, Wisconsin in 1976, where he expanded his farm; he | 15 | | was an early riser and continued to be so even after the dairy | 16 | | cows were sold, which allowed him to focus on growing corn, | 17 | | soybeans, wheat, and peas; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Harry King was a proud member of the Empire | 19 | | Threshing Association and a participant in the Illinois Farm | 20 | | Bureau Tractor Trek; he enjoyed time away from the farm at the | 21 | | lakes of northern Wisconsin and Canada, where he fished and | 22 | | camped; he also loved to hunt deer and turkey; he was always on |

| 1 | | the lookout for the next new piece of modern farm equipment to | 2 | | add to his collection; he enjoyed his daily breakfast and the | 3 | | stories he shared with his breakfast friends; in 2012, he and | 4 | | his wife began spending winters in Winter Haven, Florida, where | 5 | | he enjoyed fishing, having dinner with friends, and driving | 6 | | around the neighborhood in a souped-up golf cart; he and Lynn | 7 | | also loved to travel, but nothing gave him more joy than his | 8 | | grandchildren; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Harry King was preceded in death by his parents; | 10 | | his brother, Tom King; his in-laws, Alan and Lee Sturdy; his | 11 | | brother-in-law, Ted Schaefer; his nephews, Ron and Dan | 12 | | Schaefer; and his niece, Linda (Schaefer) Clark; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Harry King is survived by his wife, Lynn; his | 14 | | children, Brian (Chris) King, Rob (Janel) King, Kelly (Tom) | 15 | | Griesemer, and Brett (Donna) King; his grandchildren, Trent, | 16 | | Travis, and Connor Griesemer, Katelyn and Madelyn King, and | 17 | | Cooper and Tucker King; his sister, Donna Schaefer; and his | 18 | | brother-in-law, Dave (Libby) Sturdy; therefore, be it
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 21 | | Harold Leo "Harry" King and extend our sincere condolences to | 22 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 23 | | further
