SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward A. "Ed" Weaver of Bloomington, who passed away on March 16, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Ed Weaver was born in Lufkin, Texas to Dolph and Mary Ella Weaver on Valentine's Day in 1926; he volunteered for the U.S. Naval Air Corps after high school and was stationed in Chicago; he later attended Southern Methodist University, where he majored in electrical engineering and played for the golf team; he married Ivey Jo Land on September 8, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Ed Weaver spent ten years traveling and researching his book, The 300 Year History and Genealogy of One Weaver Family; and

WHEREAS, Ed Weaver loved to handicap horse races and owned several race horses; he enjoyed spending time with his buddies at the off track betting parlor; he was an avid golfer and enjoyed the game with his family and friends until his mid-80s; he and his wife enjoyed traveling; and

WHEREAS, Ed Weaver is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ivey Jo; his children, David (Trish) and Mark (Cindy) Weaver; his grandchildren, Wendi Weaver, Braxton (Katie) Weaver, Tyler (Erin) Weaver, and Talia (Mike) Laquitara; and eight great-grandchildren who loved their "Papa"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Edward A. "Ed" Weaver, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ed Weaver as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
