| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Robert J. "Bob" Ostermiller of Pleasant | 4 | | Prairie, Wisconsin, who passed away on November 17, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Ostermiller was born in Quincy to Joseph and | 6 | | Antoinette (Broeker) Ostermiller on July 7, 1928; he attended | 7 | | St. Francis Elementary School and Notre Dame High School in | 8 | | Quincy; he served in the United States Army in Korea from 1950 | 9 | | to 1952 with the 24th Infantry Division, attaining the rank of | 10 | | sergeant; he was discharged in 1952 and married Pauline Fetter | 11 | | at St. Francis Catholic Church on September 4, 1954; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Bob Ostermiller was employed as an advertising and | 13 | | sales manager by Sears, Roebuck and Company in Quincy, | 14 | | Waukegan, and Vernon Hills for 40 years, retiring in 1988; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bob Ostermiller was a loyal member of Waukegan | 16 | | Elks Lodge No. 702 for 47 years and held the titles of Exalted | 17 | | Ruler of the Lodge, Vice President, and Past District Deputy | 18 | | Grand Exalted Ruler of the North District of Elks of Illinois; | 19 | | he was secretary of Lodge No. 702 for 14 years as well as | 20 | | serving as chairman and on numerous committees; and | 21 | | WHEREAS, Bob Ostermiller and his family were charter |

| 1 | | members of the St. Dismas Catholic Church, where he was an | 2 | | active member of the Men's Club; he also belonged to the AARP | 3 | | and was a former member of the American Legion, the Waukegan | 4 | | Glee Club, and the Norstates Ambassador Club; he loved to | 5 | | travel and he and his wife took numerous trips across the | 6 | | United States; he loved to decorate his home for the holidays, | 7 | | especially Christmas; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Bob Ostermiller was preceded in death by his | 9 | | parents; his brothers, Raymond, Virgil, Eugene, and Donald; his | 10 | | sister, Mary Ann Ostermiller; his sisters-in-law, Beryle | 11 | | Ostermiller, Ruthe Ostermiller, Margie Ostermiller, and Fern | 12 | | Ostermiller; his nephews, Michael Ostermiller and William | 13 | | Fetter; his nieces, Susan Porche and Joyce Geschwandner; his | 14 | | great-niece, Michelle Geschwandner; and several uncles and | 15 | | aunts; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Bob Ostermiller is survived by his wife of 63 | 17 | | years, Pauline; his son, Gary (Cheryl); his daughter, Paula | 18 | | Niemann (Richard); his granddaughters, Alexis and Katelyn | 19 | | Niemann; numerous nephews and nieces; his step-grandson, Jeff | 20 | | Auger (Katie Congdon); his step-great-grandson, Lenox Micha | 21 | | Auger; numerous great-nephews and great-nieces; and many | 22 | | friends and neighbors; therefore, be it
