HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the 67th anniversary of the founding of Dave's Supermarket; and

WHEREAS, Dave and Emma Lou "Emmy" Steffen founded Dave's Supermarket in 1950 in Fairbury and has been serving the community ever since; and

WHEREAS, Dave's Supermarket is a true family business; Dave and Emmy's children, Vicki, Alan, Mark, and Brian are all actively involved with the business; and

WHEREAS, After 67 years, customer service is still of the utmost importance to Dave's Supermarket and it maintains the practice of having employees carry out groceries to its customer's cars, a practice that most grocery stores have done away with; and

WHEREAS, The deli, bakery, and sit-down area has become a popular meeting place for seniors; in addition, the store hosts nutritional seminars for customers and employees; and

WHEREAS, Dave's Supermarket often serves as the first job for local teens as they enter the workforce; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the 67th anniversary of the founding of Dave's Supermarket and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dave's Supermarket as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
