HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Sheriff Jim Padilla on the occasion of his retirement as Henry County Sheriff and on his 41 years of faithful service to his community; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla was inspired at a young age by his teacher to become a police officer, a dream he ultimately fulfilled; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla started his law enforcement career as a police officer in Kewanee, where he served for eight years, including time on a multi-jurisdictional, bi-state narcotics unit known as the Quad City Metropolitan Enforcement Group; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla joined the Henry County Sheriff's Office on May 27, 1984 as a deputy; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla became the sheriff of Henry County on December 1, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla has continually improved his law enforcement skills as sheriff, taking part in SWAT and FBI training programs; and

WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Henry County's Sheriff Department is a fully funded and professionally equipped force; and

WHEREAS, Outside of his duties as sheriff of Henry County, Sheriff Padilla is a trained firearms instructor and an avid outdoorsman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Sheriff Jim Padilla on his 41 years of combined service to the City of Kewanee and Henry County, and we wish him many happy days of hunting and fishing; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sheriff Padilla as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
