SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward D. "Hook" McCormick of Collinsville, who passed away on June 9, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Edward McCormick was born in East St. Louis to Milford and Marie (Bailey) McCormick on August 13, 1943; he married Gloria "Jeannie" Hensler; and

WHEREAS, Edward McCormick retired from Monsanto in Sauget; and

WHEREAS, Edward McCormick was the former President of the Chemical Workers Union, where he was the chief spokesman of local and big table negotiations; he was awarded the 1998 Labor Man of the Year; he belonged to the Southwestern Central Labor Council; he was awarded the 1992 Thomas E. Boyle Award for dedication and personal contribution to the International Chemical Workers Union; he was a full-time union representative from 1980 until his retirement in December of 1998; he was a democratic precinct committeeman and received the Retirement Award from Collinsville Township; and

WHEREAS, Edward McCormick was a member of the Schlitz Softball Team and the Collinsville Recreation Club since 1974; he was the Fishing Derby Chairman from 1999 to 2014; and

WHEREAS, Edward McCormick was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bruce McCormick; and his sister, Charlene Druse; and

WHEREAS, Edward McCormick is survived by his wife, Jeannie; his son, Brian (Ruby) Morrissey; his grandchildren, Kelly Morrissey and Timothy Morrissey; his brother-in-law, Ronald Druse; his sisters-in-law, Linda Osborn and Brenda Russell; his nephews, Dwayne Druse and Douglas Druse; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Edward D. "Hook" McCormick, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward McCormick as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
