SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of George Francis Gebhardt of Alton, who
4passed away on May 30, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Gebhardt was born in Balta, North Dakota to
6Francis "Frank" and Caroline (Zacher) Gebhardt on August 23,
71921; he married Mary Margaret Tuohy in California on December
828, 1943; and
 
9    WHEREAS, George Gebhardt retired from the United States Air
10Force after 24 years of service, where he trained over 400
11fighter pilots and flew 22 different planes; after his service,
12he taught at George Washington University and was the
13administrator for the master's degree program for the military;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, George Gebhardt was a member of St. Mary's
16Catholic Church in Alton and a former member of Our Lady of
17Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, Texas; he was a 4th
18Degree member of the Knights of Columbus; and
 
19    WHEREAS, George Gebhardt was preceded in death by his wife,
20Mary Margaret; his parents; his daughter, Sheila Marie Breault;
21his sisters, Lillian Bosch and Iris Bailey; and his brother,

1Allen Gebhardt; and
 
2    WHEREAS, George Gebhardt is survived by his son and
3daughter-in-law, John and Sandra Lee Gebhardt; his daughter and
4son-in-law, Carolyn and Steven DeVilliers; his grandchildren,
5Matthew (Marissa) Griffin, Mary DeVilliers, James DeVilliers,
6and Danielle DeVilliers, Caroline (Barrett) Wood, Christopher
7George Gebhardt, Sean Gebhardt, Lea Peyton Gebhardt, Kim
8(Jacques) Furhmann, and Rev. Gordon "Keith" (Joanna) Breault;
9and 27 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12George Francis Gebhardt, and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of George Gebhardt as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
