HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Robert "Bob" Elliott on
4the occasion of his retirement as a Commander of the Illinois
5State Police; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Robert Elliott joined Illinois State Police Cadet
7Class 85 on September 18, 1989; he graduated on February 2,
81990 and was assigned to Illinois State Police District 7; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Robert Elliott was transferred to the Illinois
10State Police Division of Administration Research and
11Development Bureau on August 1, 1996; he was promoted to the
12rank of Sergeant on November 16, 1996 and the rank of Master
13Sergeant on June 1, 1998; on May 16, 1999, he was transferred
14to the Human Resource Command at the Illinois State Police
15Academy; on July 16, 1999, he was transferred to District 14
16Patrol; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Robert Elliott was selected to be Acting Captain
18of District 14 on January 1, 2002; he was promoted to the rank
19of Lieutenant on July 1, 2002 and the rank of Captain on
20October 1, 2005; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Robert Elliott was commissioned in the Illinois

1National Guard as a second lieutenant from the Western Illinois
2University ROTC program in 1988; he was promoted to the rank of
3first lieutenant in 1991, the rank of captain in 1996, and the
4rank of major in 2002; he retired from the National Guard in
52008; during his 20 years of service, he served in Poland in
61997, trained in Honduras, assisted with flood duty in 1993,
7and volunteered for a tour in Iraq in 2004 and 2005; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Elliott served as a mentor for a graduate
9of Lincoln's Challenge Academy, a cadet in the Illinois State
10Police Academy, and a trooper in the Illinois State Police
11mentoring program; he has donated blood since college and is a
12regular donor, having donated 7 pints in the last 7 years; he
13has also participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the
14last 15 years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Robert Elliott and his wife of 27 years, Michelle,
16have 3 children, Robert Elliott, II, Kari Elliott, and Brian
17Elliott; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20congratulate Robert "Bob" Elliott on the occasion of his
21retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the
22future; and be it further
