| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Frances Elizabeth "Fran" Martin | 4 | | Sheffer of Aurora, who passed away on January 1, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Fran Sheffer was born to Fred and Margaret | 6 | | (Baker) Martin in Litchfield on April 29, 1938; she graduated | 7 | | from Oregon Community High School in 1956; she graduated from | 8 | | Moser Business College in Chicago in 1958; she initially | 9 | | married at First United Methodist Church Chapel in the Sky in | 10 | | 1959; she married again at Westminster Presbyterian Church in | 11 | | Aurora in 1978; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Fran Sheffer worked in the legal, accounting, | 13 | | administrative, and political fields throughout central and | 14 | | northern Illinois for many years; she was the longtime | 15 | | district office administrator of former Illinois State Senator | 16 | | Chris Lauzen, for whom she handled difficult constituent | 17 | | service questions and concerns in a patient, efficient manner; | 18 | | and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Fran Sheffer had a lifelong love for live | 20 | | theater; through the years, she had season tickets to various | 21 | | venues, including the Drury Lane and First Folio Theatres in | 22 | | Oak Brook, the Paramount Theatre in Aurora, the Philip Lynch |

| 1 | | Theatre in Romeoville, the Theatre of Western Springs, the | 2 | | Steel Beam Theatre and Mainstage Theatre at Pheasant Run | 3 | | Resort in St. Charles, the Music Theatre Works in Evanston, | 4 | | the Fireside Theatre in Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin, and the Fine | 5 | | Arts Centre, Albright Community Theatre, and Fermilab Theatres | 6 | | in Batavia; she also attended area high school and college | 7 | | productions and the occasional production at other venues in | 8 | | northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin; while living in | 9 | | Belvidere, she also served as a set dresser for the now | 10 | | shuttered Shady Lane Theatre in Marengo for two years; and
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Fran Sheffer was committed to her faith; she was | 12 | | a member of the Village Bible Church in Aurora; she served in | 13 | | various capacities at the church since 2006, including prayer | 14 | | chain coordinator; she previously attended Grace Church of | 15 | | DuPage in Warrenville and Westminster Presbyterian Church in | 16 | | Aurora; she was also a member of the Heart Sisters group that | 17 | | provides information to individuals suffering from heart | 18 | | disease; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Fran Sheffer was preceded in death by her | 20 | | husband, Cloyde B. (Jim) Sheffer; her parents; her brothers, | 21 | | Bradley, Jeffrey, Gregory, and Douglas; her stepson, Steven | 22 | | Sheffer; her aunts and uncles; and her cousins; and
| 23 | | WHEREAS, Fran Sheffer is survived by her sons, Scott |

| 1 | | (Cindy) Kuntzelman and Stuart (Jennifer) Kuntzelman; her | 2 | | sister, Beverly (Michael) Mason; her stepchildren, Sarr | 3 | | (Susan) Sheffer, Sherilyn (Doug) Gould, Sarana (Mark) Rogers, | 4 | | and Stewart Sheffer; her grandsons, Ryan Kuntzelman, Wade | 5 | | Kuntzelman, Nick (Lauren) Vicari, and Josiah Gould; her | 6 | | granddaughters, Geniva (Bill) Martin, Karinne (Pratik) Patel, | 7 | | Katie (Justin) Weitzel, and Kristin Sheffer; her numerous | 8 | | great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; her cousins; and | 9 | | her friends; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| 12 | | Frances Elizabeth "Fran" Martin Sheffer and extend our sincere
| 13 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
| 14 | | her; and be it further
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| 16 | | presented to the family of Fran Sheffer as an expression of
our | 17 | | deepest sympathy.
