| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Mary E. "Beth" Esela of Springfield, | 4 | | who passed away on January 15, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Beth Esela was born to Joseph A. and Mary E. | 6 | | (Lawler) Esela in Springfield on June 26, 1954; she was a | 7 | | Springfield resident for all of her life; she graduated from | 8 | | Sacred Heart Academy in 1972; she earned her associate degree | 9 | | from Lincoln Land Community College in 1987; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Beth Esela served the Illinois Senate Democrats | 11 | | for 37 years; she retired as head of Computer Operations in | 12 | | 2015; and
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Beth Esela belonged to Blessed Sacrament Church; | 14 | | she appreciated art and loved drawing, creating pottery, and | 15 | | making jewelry; she also loved animals; she was a devoted | 16 | | Chicago Bulls fan; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Beth Esela was known for her generous heart and | 18 | | always looking for ways to give; she was devoted to her family, | 19 | | and she considered her grandchildren the light of her life; | 20 | | and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Beth Esela was preceded in death by her parents | 2 | | and her brother, Dennis "Denny" Esela; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Beth Esela is survived by her son, Joseph E. | 4 | | (Sloane) Huddleston; her grandchildren, Lander J. Huddleston | 5 | | and Gentry A. Huddleston; her sisters, Sue Wilkening, Patricia | 6 | | "Trish" (Walt) Basso, and Theresa (Mark) Gore; her brother, | 7 | | Edward "Eddie" Esela; and her several nieces, nephews, and | 8 | | cousins; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Mary E. "Beth" Esela and extend our sincere condolences to her | 12 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 13 | | further
