| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Louis J. Pfleger of Chicago, who passed | 4 |
| away on July 5, 2008; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Louis Pfleger was born on October 19, 1911; he was | 6 |
| one of six siblings born to Oscar and Annie Pfleger; he | 7 |
| attended St. Martin and Mt. Carmel Schools; and he married | 8 |
| Marion Noble on June 22, 1935; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He owned his own company, Better Bedding Company, | 10 |
| selling mattresses and box springs; he later was a warehouse | 11 |
| manager for Service Tools; he finished his working years | 12 |
| working as Chief of Staff for Alderman Robert Kellem and | 13 |
| Committeeman John M. Daley in the 18th Ward; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He served as a Sergeant with the 94th Infantry in | 15 |
| the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946, | 16 |
| receiving the Presidential Unit Citation, Victory Medal, and | 17 |
| Bronze Star; and
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, He was a faithful and devoted member of Saint | 19 |
| Sabina, where his son, the Reverend Michael Pfleger, served as | 20 |
| parish priest; he could be seen in the front of the church, | 21 |
| worshipping and praising during the Sunday morning service; and

| WHEREAS, He was a fan of the Chicago White Sox and loved | 2 |
| golf and other sports; and | 3 |
| WHEREAS, His wife, Marion, and his daughter, Joan, preceded | 4 |
| him in death; he is survived by his son, Reverend Michael | 5 |
| Pfleger; and his grandchildren, Lamar (Dia) and Beronti; | 6 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 8 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 9 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Louis J. Pfleger; and be | 10 |
| it further
| 11 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 |
| presented to the family of Louis J. Pfleger as a symbol of our | 13 |
| sincere sympathy.
