1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Myron Nathan
4 "Barney" Redfern of Litchfield on Wednesday, February 26,
5 2003; and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Redfern was born May 23, 1918 in Scottville
7 Township to Harry Eugene and Nellie Hettick Redfern; he
8 married Edna Fern Landes in 1940, south of Scottville; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Redfern graduated from Scottville High
10 School in 1937; he was an auctioneer for almost 60 years and
11 a farmer for more than 50 years; and
12 WHEREAS, Mr. Redfern was active in the community and in
13 civic organizations; he was a Democratic precinct
14 committeeman and Zanesville Township supervisor; he was
15 Montgomery County treasurer from 1963 to 1970 and supervisor
16 of assessments from 1970 to 1993; and
17 WHEREAS, Mr. Redfern was a member of Pleasant Hill
18 Christian Church in Raymond, the Hillsboro Kiwanis Club, and
19 the Litchfield's Antler's Club; he was a board member for the
20 Macoupin County Fair for more than 30 years and served on the
21 Montgomery County Housing Authority; and
22 WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Redfern has been deeply felt
23 by all who knew him, especially his wife, Edna Fern; his son,
24 Kent (wife, Sharon) Redfern; his two daughters, Sandra
25 (husband, Sam) Cagle and Kendra (husband, George) Jones; his
26 seven grandchildren; and his five great-grandchildren;
27 therefore, be it
28 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
30 of Myron Nathan "Barney" Redfern and we extend our sincerest
31 condolences to his family, friends, and all who loved him;

2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the family of Myron N. Redfern as an expression
4 of our deepest sympathy.
