| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Ann Ginnette Turner of Garden Prairie, | 4 | | who passed away on November 14, 2023; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ann Turner was born in Sharon, Wisconsin on May | 6 | | 14, 1936, and she was raised by Walter and Martha Count; she | 7 | | graduated from Belvidere High School in 1954; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, Ann Turner joined her husband on his family farm, | 9 | | and she eventually became the farm's chief financial officer; | 10 | | she was dedicated to raising her children and was very | 11 | | involved in their lives; once her children left home, she | 12 | | enjoyed a 10-year career in the deli department of Eagle | 13 | | Foods; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ann Turner was a dedicated community leader, | 15 | | serving on many boards and committees throughout Boone County, | 16 | | including the Farm Bureau, the Home Bureau as a Chery-O, the | 17 | | Merry Milk Maids, the Boone County Historical Society, the | 18 | | Keen Age Center, the Woman's Club, and the Y-nots; she was also | 19 | | a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in | 20 | | Belvidere, where she served on practically every committee | 21 | | throughout her lifetime membership; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ann Turner received the 1984 Doctor of Civic | 2 | | Betterment Award by the Chamber of Commerce for her volunteer | 3 | | work and was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame in 2010 in | 4 | | recognition of her longstanding leadership within the | 5 | | organization; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Ann Turner was known for her famous pies, her | 7 | | strawberry shortcake, and her ability to cook for 10 or 100; | 8 | | she always loved setting a beautiful table and, more | 9 | | importantly, inviting and entertaining friends and family | 10 | | around that table; she will be remembered for her fantastic | 11 | | laugh and the sparkle in her eye; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Ann Turner was preceded in death by her husband | 13 | | of 67 years, Gary Turner; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ann Turner is survived by her children, Paul, | 15 | | Amy, Sarah, and Ross; her grandchildren, Jessica, Jim, Ashley, | 16 | | Cliff, Austin, Taylor, Sophie, and Thomas; her | 17 | | great-grandchildren, Lily, Jack, Hudson, Kensley, and Sutton; | 18 | | and her brother-in-law, Giles (Bunny) Turner; therefore, be it | 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 21 | | Ann Ginnette Turner and extend our sincere condolences to her | 22 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
