| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Roger L. Behm of Port Byron, who | 4 | | passed away on October 19, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Behm was born to Walter and Leona (Fromme) | 6 | | Behm in Moline on August 14, 1942; he graduated from Port Byron | 7 | | High School in 1960; he served in the U.S. Army during the | 8 | | Vietnam Era from 1966 to 1968; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Roger Behm held various jobs during his life, | 10 | | including working at the former Port Byron State Bank for | 11 | | several years; he also had a long history of working at the | 12 | | funeral home in Port Byron, which included washing cars for | 13 | | Dailey Mortuary as a teenager and working as a funeral | 14 | | assistant and on the ambulance for Leon Gibson; he retired | 15 | | from his duties as a funeral assistant for the Gibson - Bode | 16 | | Funeral Home in 2016; he also worked for Illini Hospital, | 17 | | driving the hospital's Care Van, for over 15 years; and
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Roger Behm loved ballroom dancing with his | 19 | | longtime partner, Shirley Meade, and they traveled the | 20 | | Midwest, following their favorite bands, Jack Morgan and Lonny | 21 | | Lynn, and cherishing the many friendships they made along the | 22 | | way; he enjoyed his daily walks through Port Byron, which were |

| 1 | | usually extended by visiting with everyone he encountered | 2 | | along his path; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Roger Behm was preceded in death by his parents | 4 | | and his sister, Joyce Beale; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Behm is survived by his children, Pamela | 6 | | (Richard Jr.) Snell and David (Terry) Behm; his grandchildren, | 7 | | Richard Snell III (Emily Burke), Emma Snell, Lauren Behm, Cal | 8 | | Behm, and Kendall Behm; his special friend of 34 years, | 9 | | Shirley Meade; and his former wife, Pat MacGowan; therefore, | 10 | | be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Roger L. Behm and extend our sincere condolences to his | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 15 | | further
| 16 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 17 | | presented to the family of Roger Behm as an expression of our | 18 | | deepest sympathy.
