| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Reverend Dennis Bushkofsky of Oak | 4 | | Park, who passed away February 2, 2023 at the age of 64; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky was born to Ronald and Marie | 6 | | (Kuper) Bushkofsky in Oelwein, Iowa on July 15, 1958; he | 7 | | married Linda Post, and they had two children, Judy and Jayden | 8 | | Jackson; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky received a Bachelor of Arts in | 10 | | Music from Luther College in 1980; he earned a Master of | 11 | | Divinity from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia in | 12 | | 1986, and he later earned a Master of Arts in Liturgical | 13 | | Studies from St. John University in 1999; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky served congregations of the | 15 | | Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in Pennsylvania, | 16 | | Minnesota, and Illinois; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky devoted a portion of his ministry | 18 | | to intentional interim assignments, guiding congregations | 19 | | through pastoral transitions; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky was an editor and writer of |

| 1 | | liturgical materials and an educator in the adult | 2 | | catechumenate movement; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky was an active figure in the | 4 | | Community of Congregations, an interfaith organization serving | 5 | | Oak Park, River Forest, and surrounding communities; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Bushkofsky was preceded in death by his | 7 | | father; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Rev. Bushkofsky was | 9 | | survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda Post Bushkofsky; his | 10 | | children, Judy and Jayden Jackson; his granddaughters, Jordyn | 11 | | Jackson and Alexandria Mauricio; his mother; his brother, | 12 | | Duane; and a host of family, friends, colleagues, and Oak Park | 13 | | residents; therefore, be it | 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 16 | | Reverend Dennis Bushkofsky and extend our sincere condolences | 17 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | 18 | | it further | 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 20 | | presented to the family of Rev. Bushkofsky as an expression of | 21 | | our deepest sympathy. |
