| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Rose (Daydif) Eaton of Waukegan, who | 4 | | passed away on July 19, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rose Eaton was born to Chris and Zaka Daydif on | 6 | | October 10, 1922; she lived in Waukegan her entire life; as a | 7 | | young woman, she was a hostess with the USO, ultimately | 8 | | becoming the president of the local chapter; she spent many | 9 | | hours at the USO at the Waukegan Armory dancing with servicemen | 10 | | and, when asked, writing letters to their family and friends; | 11 | | in 1945, she was nominated for a prestigious award from the USO | 12 | | and was ultimately one of ten national finalists; she married | 13 | | Homer "Buck" Eaton on July 17, 1948; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Rose Eaton began working in the Personnel | 15 | | Department at Abbott Laboratories after graduating high | 16 | | school; later, she worked at the Great Lakes Naval Base in the | 17 | | chaplain's department, where she supported priests, rabbis, | 18 | | and ministers who counseled the young servicemen; she was | 19 | | ultimately transferred to the Chapel by the Lake and retired | 20 | | from that position in 1984; and
| 21 | | WHEREAS, After retirement, Rose Eaton was a volunteer at | 22 | | the Waukegan Public Library and worked at the Reference Desk, |

| 1 | | where she assisted patrons at the library and handled telephone | 2 | | requests; she also worked in the accessory department at Carson | 3 | | Pirie Scott, which fulfilled her creative interests; she was a | 4 | | member of Grace Missionary Church in Zion; she had many talents | 5 | | and excelled as a seamstress; she loved to cook and to collect | 6 | | recipes; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Rose Eaton was preceded in death by her husband of | 8 | | 61 years, Buck; her parents; and her brothers, Michael Daydif | 9 | | Sr. and Karl Daydif; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Rose Eaton is survived by her daughters, Janis | 11 | | Eaton and Debra Eaton; her nephews, Michael (Cathy) Daydif and | 12 | | Bruce (Susan) Daydif; and her nieces, Karen Shuler and Sue | 13 | | Harvey; therefore, be it
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 16 | | Rose (Daydif) Eaton and extend our sincere condolences to her | 17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 18 | | further
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 20 | | presented to the family of Rose Eaton as an expression of our | 21 | | deepest sympathy.
