| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois | 3 |
| were saddened to learn of the death of Arthur "Bunny" Thornton | 4 |
| on April 6, 2004; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on August 14, 1915, on Columbian Ranch | 6 |
| near Eldred, the son of Henry Holly and Lula Alma Deeds | 7 |
| Thornton; he married Wilma Cummings on March 22, 1939, and she | 8 |
| preceded him in death in 2003; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Thornton served in the United States Army in | 10 |
| Germany during World War II; he was a State worker and retired | 11 |
| in 1990 at 74; he was a lifelong Democrat and served as | 12 |
| precinct committeeman in Rockbridge 2 for many years; and | 13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Thornton belonged to Charity Southern Baptist | 14 |
| Church; he lived his life to the fullest and was dedicated to | 15 |
| his family; and | 16 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Arthur "Bunny" Thornton will be | 17 |
| deeply felt by many, especially his daughters, Sharon Joyce | 18 |
| (husband, David) Custer, Rita Kay Walden, and Monze Lou | 19 |
| (husband, Don) Chapman; his son, Arthur Gregory (wife, Denise); | 20 |
| his nine grandchildren; his 16 great-grandchildren; and his | 21 |
| great-great-granddaughter; and
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Wilma, he was preceded in | 23 |
| death by three brothers, Jack, Louis, and Harold; his sister, | 24 |
| Ollie Fell; his daughter, Shirley Jean Snyder Giberson; and two | 25 |
| great-great-granddaughters; therefore, be it
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL | 27 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of | 28 |
| Arthur "Bunny" Thornton along with all who knew and loved him | 29 |
| and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; |
