| SENATE RESOLUTION
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened | 3 |
| to learn of the death of Ralph Layton of Bethalto on March 26, | 4 |
| 2004; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Layton was born on November 12, 1927 in Bell | 6 |
| City, Missouri to Joe and Lilly (Smith) Layton; he married the | 7 |
| former Maggie Bromley on August 13, 1949 in Pickette, Arkansas; | 8 |
| and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Layton worked at Laclede Steel for over 31 | 10 |
| years as a crane operator, often building houses in his spare | 11 |
| time; and
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He was an avid gardener who loved being outdoors, | 13 |
| and loved to fish and hunt; he will be remembered as a devoted | 14 |
| husband, father, and grandfather; and
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Ralph Layton will be deeply felt by | 16 |
| many, especially his wife, Maggie; his two daughters and | 17 |
| sons-in-law, Kay and John Williams and Debbie and Michael | 18 |
| Signorino; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Tonya Layton; | 19 |
| his four grandchildren, John Williams, Crystal and Rob Lowe, | 20 |
| Gary Layton II, and Jeremy Signorino; his two | 21 |
| great-grandchildren, Brittany Grayson and Sam Lowe; his | 22 |
| sister, Nancy Johnson; his brother, Lester Layton; and his | 23 |
| other extended family and friends; and
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his | 25 |
| daughter, Karen Jo; his four brothers; and his sister; | 26 |
| therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL | 28 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of | 29 |
| Ralph Layton along with all who knew and loved him and extend |
