1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of
3 Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Edward "Ted"
4 Sheridan Kress of Brimfield on February 15, 2003; and
5 WHEREAS, Mr. Kress was born on March 26, 1931 in
6 Lawrence, Massachusetts to Ralph H. and Edna Lewellyn
7 Sheridan Kress; he married Rita Fales on June 14, 1973; and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Kress received his bachelor's degree in
9 production engineering from the University of Michigan in
10 1954, where he played varsity football on both offense and
11 defense as a wing back and safety; he also served in the Air
12 Force ROTC; and
13 WHEREAS, Mr. Kress owned, operated, founded, and was
14 president of the Kress Corp. in Brimfield, which manufactures
15 heavy mobile equipment for the metals and mining industries;
16 and
17 WHEREAS, Mr. Kress was a member of the Association for
18 Iron and Steel Engineers and the Society of Automotive
19 Engineers; he was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic
20 Church in Brimfield; and
21 WHEREAS, In 1999, Mr. Kress was awarded the Knight of
22 Merit by the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St.
23 George; and
24 WHEREAS, His passing will be deeply felt by all who knew
25 and loved him, especially his wife, Rita; and his son,
26 Nathan; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
29 Edward "Ted" Sheridan Kress, along with all who knew and
30 loved him, and extend our sincere condolences to his family

1 and friends; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 delivered to the family of Edward "Ted" Sheridan Kress with
4 our deepest sympathy.
