1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The American Cancer Society is the nationwide,
3 community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to
4 eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing
5 cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer,
6 through research, education, advocacy, and service; and
7 WHEREAS, The American Cancer Society consists of more
8 than two million Americans united to conquer cancer through
9 balanced programs of research, education, advocacy, and
10 service; the dollars raised from the American Cancer Society
11 and Relay For Life are used to provide hope for the future,
12 progress toward a cure, and answers to cancer questions and
13 concerns; and
14 WHEREAS, The 2003 American Cancer Society's Relay for
15 Life in Clinton County is set for August 8th, 2003, at
16 Central High School in Breese; all cancer survivors are
17 invited to celebrate life and the hope for a cure by walking
18 the first lap at the relay; therefore, be it
19 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21 we commend the Relay for Life and this unique community event
22 that allows individuals from all over to join in the fight
23 against cancer and celebrate life for survivors, mourn the
24 loss of loved ones, and rally for their community to fight
25 cancer; and be it further
26 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
27 presented to the co-chairmen of the Relay for Life Corporate
28 Sponsor Committee, Michele Maue and Jim Thole, as an
29 expression of our esteem.
